Does athletics give you a competitive leg up when applying to attend the University of Chicago? What’s it like to be a student-athlete in Hyde Park? Academic excellence is an expectation of UChicago student-athletes, but how do our athletes find time to hit the books and achieve proficiency in their sport? Do they take a lighter academic load so they have time to practice and play in competition? Are our student-athletes more likely to work for a private equity firm after graduation or is it possible for them to get into the big leagues and play their sport professionally?
Our UChicago Men’s and Women’s basketball teams will be touring Mainland China and visiting Hong Kong in September before they return to the United States to start their grueling training season.
Learn what it’s like for our athletes to juggle academics and athletics in a unique event in on the Hong Kong campus. Both men’s and women’s basketball teams and their coaches will be on campus the evening of September 19th and you’ll be able to ask these and many other of your own burning questions live and in person.
Whether you are interested in applying to UChicago as a student athlete yourself or are just interested in meeting a diverse array of student-athletes, you’ll find this program to be a rare and stimulating opportunity. There will be a panel discussion with select student-athletes and their coaches followed by a reception where you can meet all members of the teams in person.
The Hong Kong community, alumni and parents and their aspiring student athletes are encouraged to attend!
