After more than six years serving as the inaugural Executive Director of the Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong, Mark Barnekow has concluded his role effective December 19, 2025. As Executive Director, Mark pioneered programming initiatives, guided the campus through the pandemic, engaged the center as a regional hub, and partnered with a variety of units across the university to support collaborative programs and trips for students. We are grateful for Mark’s leadership during the campus’ foundational years and wish him every success in his future endeavors.
Elizabeth O’Neill, Associate Dean for Booth Global Degree Programs in London and Hong Kong and Executive Director of Chicago Booth’s Robert Rothman, ’77, London Campus, was appointed interim leader effective December 20. Her role as interim executive director will include oversight of the Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong and the Heritage Courtyard and Interpretation Center. This interim assignment will be in addition to her roles as Associate Dean for Booth Global Degree Programs in London and Hong Kong and Executive Director of Chicago Booth’s Robert Rothman, ’77, London Campus. In her interim Hong Kong role, Elizabeth will build on her London leadership experience to support collaboration across the several UChicago entities housed on the campus, while ensuring the smooth functioning of all foundation operations. Elizabeth will be working from the Hong Kong campus starting in early January 2026, with ongoing, regular engagement with the London teams.
