Global Insolvency: Emerging Trends and Expert Practice

This intensive three-day program brings together expert faculty from the bench, the academy, and practice to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to excel.

Participants will gain expert-level insight into important recent developments in international and cross-border insolvency law, with a curriculum designed to reflect both the global landscape and the practical realities of sophisticated insolvency work. The program covers not only what is changing in the law, but the essential skills and judgment that distinguish the best practitioners in the field.

  • Gain a sophisticated understanding of the most important recent developments in international and cross-border insolvency law
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of cross-border recognition — including the current state of the law, emerging developments, and the practical skills needed to navigate this rapidly changing area of practice
  • Survey new developments and insolvency law reforms across major jurisdictions, with a comparative international perspective
  • Develop the expert skills and practical judgment that distinguish leading global insolvency practitioners
  • Engage directly with sitting judges on how courts approach complex international insolvency matters
  • Build a peer network of senior insolvency professionals from across the region

This program is designed for senior and mid-level lawyers, financial professionals, and accountants who are active in insolvency, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters. It is particularly valuable for practitioners who work on — or expect to work on — international and cross-border cases.

The University of Chicago Law School occupies a unique niche among this country's premier law schools. Located on a residential campus in one of America's great cities, UChicago Law offers a rigorous and interdisciplinary professional education that blends the study of law with the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences. Students, faculty, and staff form a small, tightly knit community devoted to the life of the mind. Learning is participatory. UChicago Law does not seek to impose a single viewpoint or style of thought on its students. Instead, our faculty exposes students to contrasting views, confident in students' abilities to choose their own paths.
