Zoom Webinar

Description:

While video games are available around the world, the content, the design, and the gamers’ norms differ from place to place. For example, did you know that Western gamers feel skepticism about the "freemium" or "pay-to-win" model, but Chinese gamers more frequently lean into it in order to pay for the upper hand? We see another difference in how Chinese gamers express more interest and satisfaction in the completion of video games than their Western counterparts.

How do cultural norms affect gamers’ gaming motivations and, in turn, impact the gaming industry in Asia and the West? The second episode of the Video Games mini-series explores the video game differences between the United States and Asia, with a particular emphasis on countries that include China, Japan, and South Korea.
