Description:

The world has gone through monumental change because of COVID-19 since early 2020. The global community has experienced, directly and indirectly, some level of change in their lives, including social distancing, family, and education, to name just a few areas.

The pandemic has considerably disrupted children’s normal school lives around the globe due to school closure and reclosure. Studies have documented the negative consequences of school closure and lasting online learning in children, such as adverse physical, mental, and social well-being, poor educational outcomes, and broadened educational inequalities.

What are the long-term impacts of school closures and the changes of educational activities to children? How has home learning affected early childhood development and children’s school readiness? Please join us to hear our UChicago faculty and panel of experts discuss COVID’s disruptions in early childhood development, family, and social relationships.
