Economic Dynamics of The Greater Bay Area

In the 1970s, China appointed five cities as Special Economic Zones, and the country witnessed rapid development for nearly a half-century.

In 2017, strategic planning for cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao established a blueprint for further development of the Greater Bay Area. The framework aims to leverage regional resources and system integration with a visionary goal to nurture the GBA as a world-class competitive city cluster.

This series will introduce the GBA, by giving audiences a big picture view of the GBA and discuss specific policy and practices in real terms.  The audience will learn objectives for establishing an integrated megacity, implications, and opportunities for over 86 million people. We will also explore the benefits of the GBA master plan for cities, companies, and individuals in the region.

EP1. Economic Dynamics of The Greater Bay Area 

The blueprint of the Greater Bay Area includes six basic principles and seven areas of development to achieve joint growth across eleven cities. From mobility, the economic size of the GBA, infrastructure development, technological innovation to talent flow within the region, this session will introduce what GBA means to society, enterprises, and individuals from a macro socioeconomic and institutional perspective.
