Building public trust for the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines has been a global challenge during the pandemic. Since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic in March 2020, and the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved and rolled out after December 2020, the vaccination rate in high- and upper-middle-income countries has hovered around 70%.
What are the reasons behind the delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccines despite the availability of vaccine services? How do language, cultural norms, and public trust affect people's confidence in Asia and the West? Please join us to hear our panel of UChicago and other experts discuss what we can do to overcome vaccine hesitancy in Hong Kong, Asia, and the world.
