How do culture and context shape what we consider “rational” behavior? In this talk, Professor Shali Wu (UChicago PhD’07 Psychology) of Kyung Hee University will explore how cognitive biases and decision-making frameworks vary across cultures, with meaningful implications for global management, consumer behavior, and economic policy. Drawing on research and case studies from both East Asian and Western contexts, Professor Wu aims to challenge conventional economic assumptions and invite the audience to consider how we might design systems that account for cultural diversity in rational thought.
Nexus Asia is a program initiated by the UChicago Hong Kong Campus dedicated to collaborating with UChicago PhD alumni and their institutions throughout the Asia Pacific region. In addition to facilitating research, Nexus Asia plans to engage its alumni on its UChicago Hong Kong campus with workshops, lectures and events for academics and the general public.
